The purpose of carrying out VPTI are as follows,
- To ensure compliance between import permit documents with supporting documents and the physical specifications of certain imported goods;
- Ensuring imported goods comply with the required technical, quality, and safety standards in accordance with the statutory regulations stipulated by the Minister of Trade;
- Supporting government efforts in implementing and regulating foreign trade policies;
- Supporting government efforts in protecting the health and safety of humans, animals, fish, plants, and the environment;
- Supporting government efforts in protecting national security, national interests, or public interest, including social, cultural, and moral values.
